Gerald was appointed to the Board in July of 2023. He is a native of Galveston and a graduate of Ball High School and grew up under the guidance of his single mother, Laura Wilson, who instilled in him the values of character, discipline, and education. Learning essential life lessons as a member of the Galveston Ball Track Team under Coach Kermit Courville, Gerald embraced the principles of hard work and perseverance, laying the groundwork for a purposeful life.

With a Moody Scholarship, Gerald attended Texas A&M University Commerce, earning a degree in Business Administration with a minor in English Literature. He went on to excel in his career as a Human Resources Executive for Fortune 100 companies, most notably his most recent role as a Regional Human Resources Director for Lowe’s Inc., Southwest Division. Gerald has received several awards and recognition for his Human Resources knowledge and was listed in Who’s Who in Business Professionals. Gerald has earned Executive Leadership degrees and certifications from the University of South Carolina, Rutgers University, and Wayne State University.

Currently, Gerald serves as a Behavioral Specialist in Clear Creek ISD, offering support to elementary campuses in the district. Committed to community service, he is an ordained Deacon and actively participates as the Vice President of the Men’s Brotherhood Ministry and Male Chorus at his church. Additionally, Gerald contributes as a Board Member for the Galveston Professional Athletes (GPA) Organization and is affiliated with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the National Urban League and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., where he holds a Life Membership.

Together with his wife Yolanda, also a Galveston native and Ball High School alumna, Gerald is deeply devoted to their hometown. As proud "BOIs" (Born on the Island), they are passionately involved in community service, volunteering at various non-profit organizations and churches. When not giving back, they cherish time with their sons and grandchildren. Gerald finds joy in his love for jazz music, and he is an avid reader, especially drawn to biographies.
