Bill’s love for the island began shortly after he moved to Galveston in 1973. He jumped right in and joined the Jaycees and contributed to numerous community projects. Bill has always been a champion of the community. In his time as the owner of a small repair and remodeling company, he helped to restore nearly a dozen homes seriously damaged by Hurricane Ike. Bill has led a diverse career in the financial services, training, sales management, and construction industries. He has served on numerous boards and civic organizations in Galveston, including the Rotary Club of Galveston, the Humane Society, and the Galveston Chamber of Commerce. Bill retired from his position as Director of the Galveston Small Business Development Center in 2015.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys riding his bike, kayaking, camping, and attending school events and other activities with his grandchildren. Bill is married to Cindy Sanderson, a fourth generation Galvestonian. Since their retirement, they have enjoyed traveling in their RV throughout the western United States and visiting their four adult children and nine grandchildren. Bill and Cindy love showing the island off to the many friends they have made during their travels. As a trustee, Bill hopes to contribute to the enhancement of the “Island Experience” for residents and tourists while supporting Galveston businesses.
